The Copenhagen Card: What is included?

The Copenhagen Card is available in two versions:

Discover variant: Here you can choose from around 80 attractions. You also have free travel on public transport. The card is valid for between 24 and 120 hours.

HOP variant: With this card you can choose from around 40 attractions. It also gives you free travel on Strømma's hop-on hop-off buses. The card is valid for between 24 and 72 hours.

With both options, you can take up to two children up to the age of 12 with you free of charge.

With the Copenhagen Card Discover you can make extensive use of public transport in Copenhagen and the surrounding area.

You can use the following means of transportation:

  • Metro
  • Buses
  • Suburban trains
  • Regional trains

The card is valid for zones 1 to 99 and takes you to the airport as well as to places outside Copenhagen, such as Roskilde, Hillerød or Frederikssund.

It is therefore worth collecting the card on arrival at the airport.

With the Copenhagen Card Hop you can't use public transport, but you can use the hop-on hop-off buses operated by Strømma. These run on three routes through the Danish capital.

  • Classic Route: On this route you will see the most important sights of Copenhagen.
  • Green Line: takes you through Frederiksberg, Vesterbro and the Meatpacking District.
  • Colorful Copenhagen: On this route you can explore the street food market in Reffen, the free city of Christiania and the picturesque Christianshavn.

A multilingual audio guide is available on all buses. Make sure you only use the Strømma buses. There are other providers in Copenhagen but the Copenhagen Card is only valid for Strømma.

Yes, young people between the ages of 12 and 15 receive a reduced fare. In addition, every adult with a Copenhagen City Card can take up to two children under the age of 12 with them free of charge. This applies to admission to the attractions as well as to the use of public transport and the hop-on hop-off buses.

First decide which variant of the Copenhagen Card you would like to use (Discover or Hop). The City Card can then be purchased online and will be available to you as a digital pass. It is not necessary to collect it on site.

The Copenhagen Discover Card is available with a validity of 24, 48, 72, 96 or 120 hours. The Hop variant is valid for 24, 48 or 72 hours. Validity is calculated in 24-hour periods. So if you activate a City Card for 72 hours on Tuesday at 10.00 am, it is valid until Friday at 10.00 am.

Download the Copenhagen Card app and navigate to the menu item "My maps" or click on the green QR logo. Now you can set the Activate button to "active". Please note that activation cannot be reversed.
